Big Red Lollipop
by Rukhsana Khan
A lovely story about siblings and friendships that highlights how annoying siblings can be sometimes but then also how you can still be the best of friends. The idea of being invited to a friends birthday party is so relevant to school children so straight away this book has a context that they will be able to identify with and associate with their own experiences.
The story has quite a nice moral message as well, the idea that Rubina had to take her sister to a party and didn't enjoy it and then when Sana had to do the same, instead of laughing and thinking of it as payback she comes forward and says that Sana should be able to go on her own. This sends the message that instead of hoping for revenge and being petty, you can be the bigger person and use your own negative experience to help prevent other people from having the same negative experience.
