House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas

Well, no one is more disappointed than me for the rating I'm giving this book.
Let's start with the crossover, the main reason I-and everyone else-were excited for this release. It was underwhelming, not at all up to par to the hype surrounding it. After years and books of teasing one... It gets resolved in a couple of chapters. It left me disappointed with it.

Bryce. Oh, how I hated Bryce in this book. She's a hypocrite, she's egotistical and has no care for how her action may affect the people around her. Including her mate, Hunt, who's simply there to be Bryce's slave and weapon. Quite literally.

The Asteri. Once again, after 900 pages of build up, the big evil is easily defeated in twenty pages or so. It shows a lack of creativity and imagination on the author's part, and it's growing increasingly boring.

Tharion. I will never understand the need for his POVs, I don't understand how I'm meant to feel sympathy toward him. Instead, it goes out to the River Queen's daughter and Sathia, his wife. Hopefully she gets to reunite with her Fae lover. Her Ordeal. I really liked Sathia, I hope we get to see more of her in the next book, maybe even get her POV.

Ithan. I always liked Ithan and his storyline did not disappoint. I can't wait to see how things shake out for him now, with Sigrid and the Wolves and Perry.

Ruhn and Lidia. They really grew up on me in this book. Their chapters were the ones I liked most and couldn't wait to reach, alongside with Ithan's.

Jesiba. She's probably one of my favorite characters ever, I did not see that plot twist coming!

The Dusk Court lore was very interesting and it increased my excitement for the next ACOTAR book.

All in all, this was an okay book. It was not worth the hype or the wait. I'm looking forward to the next one, though!
