I want to give this 5 stars for how it touched my heart (ripped it out, more accurately!) but for 2 reasons, I can't.
1. I did have a little trouble getting into this through the middle. It lagged for me a bit.
2. What in the actual hell was that ending?! Or should I say lack there of!!!
This book is a modern replacement for The Giver, one of my favorite books of all time. There are many similarities in themes. Even the ending is unbelievably similar in it's open-endedness.
I read this on audiobook and highly recommend it. The narrator is a Spanish speaker and made the story come alive. Also, maybe don't read this book in public if you don't want strangers to see you sobbing.
