The Getaway Car: A Practical Memoir About Writing and Life by Ann Patchett

5.0

This was an impulse Nook buy - I saw Patchett's name, saw that it only cost a few bucks, and mistakenly thought it was a full-length book. You can read it in a couple of hours. I liked it - I always enjoy glimpses inside writers' heads and their observations about the writing process, what works for them, etc. I especially liked the way she describes a book idea as a beautiful butterfly floating above her head, and trying to write it down is like dismantling and killing it.
