Lucky in Love by Kasie West

This is a light (but not TOO light) teen read that's more about newly 18yo Maddie winning the lottery than about the romance hinted to in the title.

Maddie's parents argue a lot and her brother seems headed off the rails. She's smart and motivated, but thinks that going to an Ivy League dream school that's more than a quick drive away is off the tables because her family needs her close by to keep them from falling apart.

In daily life at high school she slides by under the radar and is fine with that. She has her two BFFs and a job at the zoo she loooooves (not to mention a cute friend there that she likes...spending work hours with).

Then she wins a 50 million dollar jackpot, and things change. She hopes it will be for the better, but between her overly-trusting ways, assumptions she doesn't want to bother those around her to check on, and desperation to fix everyone and everything, problems--and attention--pile up. Those attempts end up causing her to become less truthful than she'd like to be at times, making her flail for the first time.

Now she needs to figure out how to dig herself out of the hole and learn how to navigate this new life--the good and the bad--and deal with the fallout in both cases.

It's a cute book but with some good messaging about trust and control.
