The Dinner by Herman Koch

Wow! I get all of the comparisons to Defending Jacob (which I loved), however this goes one step further in the plot twist. There is almost an implicit trust between reader and narrator, but the author turns that on it's head as you progress through this book. I started off trusting my narrator, and disliking Serge, until almost the end, when you realize that both narrator and his wife are stark raving mad. Yes, the wife has never been diagnosed, but she's still stark raving mad. Serge, a politician, yes, but not as egomaniacal as his brother makes him seem. I will never trust my narrator again!
