From the start of the book, I knew that both main characters were too flawed for me to root for them. Neither is a good, likeable person. And yet, every few chapters I did find myself rooting for at least one of them. That's good writing. I didn't exactly enjoy this book, it was so messed up and gross. But I read the whole thing anyway, which is a big testament to Leitz's writing. My enjoyment of the book was only a 2/5, but the writing is a solid 4/5, so I compromised at 3.75.
