This Thing Between Us
by Gus Moreno
This book is very weird and I don't know how exactly it got on my to-read list or why I even kept reading/listening to it - not that it was bad, just maybe not for me. Moreno achieved a very effectively bizarre and unsettling vibe that I enjoyed at times. His approach to and discussion of grief throughout the text was engaging and individual phrases rang true to life. However, I'm not sure what to make of the latter half - maybe its weaknesses are just a reflection of Tiago's degrading mental state, or maybe it's poor writing. I will not be revisiting this any time soon to figure it out.
