My feelings about the book wavered for a bit. I really enjoyed the beginning and the ending - it’s such a unique concept, and not something I’ve read before. The middle felt a little repetitive, in that the husbands are changing (or not), but there isn’t much character development or change in the plot beyond swapping out characters. Towards the end, I felt there was a lot of character development, some of it surprising, that made me want to read more - but then the story had ended! I think the author could have done more exploring with the elements of her life that stay the same vs change husband to husband (and why), why suddenly her world had *a husband* and not a best friend or mentor or other social connection, and whether grandma used the attic to find her own husband - since Lauren, the main character, gets the house from her grandmother. Also, has the attic always had this capability, or did it spring in to action only at that time because Lauren, for some reason, needed a partner at that point in her life? There’s so much richness to the story that could still be explored, and I’m a little sad the book didn’t go there.
