The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

In 1996 I was embarking upon a new career in massage therapy and fell in love with a beautiful young woman doing the same. She loved this book, but had been the victim of her mother's abuse, had low self esteem and a serious lisp, and had passed her GED by one point (how she got through a massage school is inexplicable, though when you pay $5000 to those fly by night outfits in the pre-certification era, they made sure to help you pass, even if it took several attempts at $250 a crack).

Well, I have to say that unfortunately I read this piece of garbage. It played no small part in our break up, which broke her heart forever because she thought we would go into business together and live happily ever after.

The only thing worse since then has been Eckhart Tolle.
