Minimum Wage Magic
by Rachel Aaron
2.5 STARS
A competently crafted urban fantasy complete with all the tropes: spunky girl fighting against ____, trying to survive the strangeness of a city that is alive, with powerful guy as partner, in business and--probably--eventually also in romance.
The background is reasonably interesting: magic coming back into the world, where people either are magic users or compensate with cybernetics. Dragons exist as uber-beautiful, powerful beings. Gods abound. But upon closer look, I can see plot contrivance popping up everywhere, and it's once again one of these books that is fun in the reading, and immediately forgettable thereafter.
Good enough for what it is.
