OMG. This is the first book I’ve read by Tanvier Peart and I’m hooked! I can’t wait to Read her first publication and patiently wait for the next one. Tanvier is a beautiful writer. I was immediately smacked in the face with rich imagery. She offers a level of casual detail that’s uncommon in contemporary romance. And by casual detail I mean I feel like I know what these characters were wearing, how brightly they smiled, and the sound of children happily playing in the background all without drowning on and on with a list of adjectives.

It’s so nice to read a book with a mature heroine. Ella is a strong capable adult figuring out how to care for her children while navigating a separation. So often stories that begin with a bang(like this one did) paint the heroine as the victim, that everything bad is happening to her. At no point did I feel like Ella was a “woe is me” victim. Yes, bad things happened to her but they didn’t define her by any means. This book also gave us a reverse age gap. And this younger man is packing some serious heat.

The romance was spicy in this one. We got to see the relationship between Ella and Julian grow and over time(and distance). As a very eligible bachelor from a very prominent family the gossip blogs love to be in his business. But privacy and discretion is necessary for a number of reasons adding to this delicious slow burn.

When it came time to reflect on this book I was puzzled to pull out any negatives or bits that just didn’t sit quite right with me. I can’t think of a single thing, resulting in a 5 star rating. The characters are fully formed and thoughtful. The relationships are beautiful and complex. I would be thrilled to find out that this book was the start of a series. I need to know more about her best friends. There’s some messy love life’s I think we need to explore. I also want check-ins to know that Ella and Julian are still going strong.
