There’s so much hype surrounding this book so I went in expecting it to not live up to it… but it did. Let me start off by saying that this book was very well written, it grabs hold of you from the very start and continues to grip you tight til the very end. Alex Michaelides perfectly dangles new pieces of information throughout the book that keep you thinking you’ve solved it and you know how this will turn out but I was wrong every time. I also have to say that this book was one of the books that I could picture in my head, playing out, like a movie, the easiest. Something else that stood out for me was how well done all of the psychology and art aspects of the book were done and that it was heavily inspired by Greek mythology. So when I googled the author after and I discovered that he’s a Greek screenwriter, and he studied psychotherapy, it all made sense.
This book truly shocked me! There’s a particular part, that literally made me gasp out loud, where everything clicks into place and you realize what’s going on and of course it’s the last thing you expected. I especially loved the symbolism of the snow throughout this book. One of the characters has a special connection with snow and it’s hinted throughout the book that snow is coming so when it finally does, it’s satisfying and perfectly ties everything together. I can’t rave about this book enough!
