4.5
4.5 rounded up! Honestly the only very small reason this doesn’t get a 5 is because I liked Never Saw You Coming a tiny bit more and this one was a little rougher around the edges 😂
But honestly? I looooved this book. It was a beautiful mix of music and heartache and anxiety and dance. I really enjoyed the overall plot and the characters - SO much. I loved all of the parent plots because they felt real and omg I loved Phil and her mom. They were too stinking cute. I really enjoy that these two books by Erin also had little adult romances in them and god they’re too cute. I cannot wait to read one of her adult romance books!!
Overall, I liked Vada a lot, but I LOVED Luke. Maybe because it was so refreshing to meet a boy who wanted to write songs and sing songs but NOT be famous. He didn’t want the spotlight and I appreciated that aspect to his personality and what I loved is that Erin Hahn didn’t make that a “bad” thing. Like his being an introvert and not wanting to be known wasn’t something that needed to be fixed. A few maybe tried it but at the end, he chose his own path and everyone let him be that person, introvert and all. And I think that was really beautiful.
Highly recommend Erin Hahn to all YA fans! She has such a way with teen language and experience. It’s so impressive!
