Kid
by Jescie Hall
The past will always haunt the present. Every experience we have been through, all the little pieces of our lives are put together to dictate the person we will become. When we have trauma, the impact is significant. This whole book was pretty existential. The overcoming of the past with a person who will help you take the scattered pieces and put them back together.
Kid is a party boy. When he moved it with Hawke and Cole, they wanted to give him a place to start over. Instead, he continued his partying ways. Until he met Han. At first it was all fun and games. She ran, he chased. But when things begin to become more serious, they have a struggle to overcome their past to see if they have a future together.
There were so many parts of this book that spoke to me. As someone with extensive amounts of trauma, some of which I blame myself for like Han, I really felt deeply when reading. I loved that this wasn’t an instalove and they didn’t;t just work it out right away. The struggle and push and pull was so realistic that it drew me in.
Definitely recommend.
