The Marsh King's Daughter by Karen Dionne

I love a complex character, and Helena fits that bill.

Born to her kidnapped mother and abductor father, Helena grew up with a skewed sense of the world, one she is still coming to grips with years later. When her father escapes from prison, Helena knows it's either hunt or be hunted, a skill she learned from her father during her childhood in a remote area of Michigan's UP.

The story is skillfully interwoven and the characters are deliciously unpredictable. Call me a fan!
