Reclaiming Her Time: The Power of Maxine Waters by Helena Andrews-Dyer

4.0

I loved this! It feels like a coffee table book celebrating a political icon known to us as Auntie Maxine. (R. Eric Thomas gave Representative Waters then nickname in his column in Elle where he "reads" the news). The book covers Representative Waters' life and career with lots of photographs, artwork, and drawings, her congressional hearing fighting for rap music and free speech, and her work on the banking committee. It covers her life in public service in a way that connects with the current generation who got to know her as she consistently stood up to Trump and the Republican Party - and lets them know, she's always been this real.
