I like Thompson’s writing style, but I didn’t like this book as much as the Rosewater books. The solution to the murder mystery came out of nowhere; it wasn’t foreshadowed at all. Since the book switched back and forth from different characters’ POVs, I thought at least one character was the murderer, but no it’s a character we’ve never met before in the book. I didn’t like that as a structure.
