This book was severely underwhelming. The setup is kinda silly, a huge safe full of gold left by Pablo Escobar in Miami but it could work if the author was willing to put up a bit more development and better characters.
The protagonist, Cari Mora, is completely uninterested in the main plot, she just wants to be left alone and well, survive. But that's not interesting, she spends like 90% of the book just vaguely dodging the plot which, sure, is the logical thing to do, but it makes for a boring story.
The villain is too much:sociopath, rapist, cannibal, human trafficker, impersonator, torturer, completely bald . All of these traits are just thrown together into the character which is never properly developed. He's evil, he's dangerous and he... wants to sell Cari?
There's a bunch of other characters and a secret society of thieves too, which don't really do all that much. All in all, this book is a mess. I can see the vague makings of a good story hidden here, but they never amount to much. Would not recommend, really.
