I am so mad at this book. I feel like it needs two different ratings. It was a really good book up until literally the last page. I would've given this 4.5 stars, I liked it that much, but then "twist ending" makes it a 2 star. The plot was decent, and I appreciate what I thought was going to be the author defying ya stereotypical norms.
Having her being a secret rebel princess at the end means that most of the emotional connections that were made are now meaningless, and that she's been an unreliable narrator this whole book, something that I hate with a passion. I'm not going to read the sequels, and I'm very disappointed. I can deal with the secret prince twist, that was done manageably and and actually made sense they way that they explained it. But having that last twist means that the sequels are going to be exactly what I don't like about YA fiction.
