With Everything I Am by Kristen Ashley
4.0

Rating- 4
Heat- 4
Overall series- 4
Tropes- heroine doesn’t know what she is

Callum, the king of werewolves, found his mate when she was just little girl. He has watched over her from afar as she grew up, but he felt no real desire to claim her. That is until the day her safety is threatened, and he has to come to her rescue. Now Callum is thrilled to have Sonia by his side, but since Sonia is human, she has no knowledge of his world. Bringing her into it, especially while he is fighting a war, is going to be tricky.

Kristen Ashley’s heroes are hard to love. She write alpha assholes that fall in love hard. Somehow, though, her men don’t live up to other similar heroes, like Barrons (Fever) and Ryder (Fae Chronicles). Interestingly, we get more insights into the thoughts of Ashley’s heroes than Barrons and Ryder, so their jerkish behavior is easier to justify, but they still have a harder time tipping our scale from hate to love. Callum’s lack of consideration for Sonia is clearly shown to be a difference in cultures and distractions from his role as king, but it was still a challenge to like him. Eventually, though, he gets out of his own way and won over both me and Sonia. This is largely because he learned from his mistakes. By the end of the book, I was rooting hard for both him and their relationship.

With Everything I Am continues to build the series tension. The first book in the series introduced us to the world of vampires and the prophecies. This book shows us the werewolf kingdom and leaves us with a sense of impending danger. It is this series plot of a supernatural war that drives me to continue reading.
