Wonderful as a work of intertextuality. Does what a retelling does and reimagines the story with something new to say. Albeit Kingsolver occasionally says it with a heavy hand and a pinch of ignorance. I wanted more from Demon’s relationships; I wanted to really feel them and the way that he felt about the other characters, but that was sometimes missing. With such an ambitious work, somethings are bound to fall through the cracks. Overall, quite impressive and well done.
