Christmas Under the Stars by Karen Swan

3.0

As many have mentioned, this title is totally misleading because there's no mention of Christmas until the last 20 pages... of a 480-page book! So I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for a festive read, but it's set in Banff so works as a cosy winter novel.

Christmas Under The Stars is about a close-knit group of friends in Banff: Meg and Mitch, and Tuck and Lucy. One night, tragedy strikes and Meg finds comfort from an astronaut on the International Space Station (yes, really). This book follows this group for nearly a year and so you can imagine A LOT happens.

There's death and love and a birth and devastating bombshells galore. It's primarily told from Meg's perspective but we also hear from Lucy, Tuck and Jonas. Honestly, I think I would have loved this book more if it was just Meg's journey because she was my favourite character and her journey was monumental. Nevertheless, her and Jonas' storyline kept me captivated throughout and I felt like I was in Banff in a remote hillside cabin alongside Meg.

So basically, I liked it but it wasn't my favourite romance of the year.
