Judas Goat by Gabrielle Bates

I’ve been thinking about these poems a lot in the weeks since I finished this book. They feel intimate to me, like they’re being whispered in my ear. Quiet, but not in the sense of softness. Rather, as haunted places are quiet. The way a forest can be quiet and beautiful even as something menacing might lurk unseen nearby. I definitely need to read this again.
