I wanted to give this 4 stars bc most of the book was 5 star energy but that last 20% kinda has me not wanting to recommend this book to anyone

- really enjoyed the first 75% of this book. the worldbuilding, the potential for politics, misaki, mamoru, kwang and mamoru's friendship, etc.
- there were some really interesting takes on motherhood that I really enjoyed reading about. I actually don't know that I've read other books w a FMC who was a mother and I felt like her perspective was really interesting
- I thought it was going to be one of those misaki keeping Takeru alive as a punishment thing bc tbh that was the vibe her behavior was giving but nothing after that rly made sense

- Takeru's character from 75%-80% to the end felt inconsistent and I didn't rly understand
- I feel like misaki's character was building up to this huge arc and then it plataeu'd to make room for
Takeru's arc
at the end which was kinda really disappointing. felt like she took 10 steps back?
- I wish I knew this was a prequel, I always see it described as a standalone fantasy but it being a prequel would have changed my expectations
- that first part of the book with kwang and mamoru kinda felt like it built up to nothing? but now knowing that it's a prequel I'm like ... I guess that's why?
- I spent the entire book under the impression that Takeru knew about her past and that's why he didn't let her talk about it so I'm kinda confused about that now JFJDJDJDJ

like I am trying to be aware of cultural differences but I feel like there was a lot of build up in misaki's story that just led to
her being a housewife again instead of a warrior which was what she was itching for the whole time? wasn't she?
