This was three stars (three means it was fine, in this case a bit slow, and the manuscript needed another edit pass for action-tracking) until the last eight chapters, where the writing went tight and all the revelations I knew were going to happen, happened in well-written & pleasing ways.
I wish it had all been written that tightly, and I wish the manuscript had gotten another edit pass for actions-tracking, but I'm so pleased with the end, and in retrospect the time given for the romance to build and support the ending's choices, that I can't care now.
Also, Leland is a great hero. Haley has good taste. :)
