Before I Let Go explores the dynamics of a family after a child loss and a divorce. I like how it doesn’t only focus on Yasmen and Josiah’s healing story, but also on their kids.
However, maybe it’s just not my cup of tea, there was too much awkwardness between Yasmen and Josiah after the divorce. I know that’s probably the reality of having to co-parent and even still be a business partner, while you still question your feelings against one another. And also dating other people for the first time after the divorce. But it makes me lose anticipation of the story when the awkwardness lingers for more than half of the book.
It’s a great book nonetheless, it’s full of great substance. I just realized that my taste in book has changed pretty dramatically on the past 3 years so I just think the book is a bit mundane.
