The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
3.0
So, "The Last Thing He Told Me" is labeled as a thriller, but honestly, it feels more like a mystery/drama situation to me.
The storyline revolves around Owen's sudden disappearance. At the beginning, it hooked me up, but in my view, this book drags on way too much for a simple mystery like that. It could have ended up faster or they could have included other elements to make it more interesting. For instance, having the FBI play a bigger role, bringing in Hannah's friends, her ex-husband... To be real, the whole read comes across as pretty flat, and that goes double for how it all wraps up.
And let's talk about that ending for a sec – it kind of disappointed me, well, actually, it disappointed me quite a bit. I get they were going for a "realistic" ending, but it just felt like a bit of a letdown in terms of wrapping things up.
