When Yadriel's traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his gender, he is determined to prove himself a real Brujo. With the help of his cousin Maritza, he performs the quinces ritual himself. All is going well, until he tries find the ghost of his murdered cousin Miguel, but he ends up summoning someone else entirely.
This book well and truly filled my heart to the brim. It was so important, and funny and wholesome. Who'd have thought I'd enjoy romance so much? Turns out if the love interest is a sarcastic ghost, I'm totally down ๐คฃ
Aiden Thomas writes such realistic characters and beautifully vivid settings. I truly felt for Yadriel, and wanted more than anything for him to prove his family wrong. The Trans and Latinx representation in this one is amazing. I loved that Julian accepted Yadriel for who he was, no questions asked.
Cemetery Boys is very YA, and this is the only reason it ended up being a 4 star read over a 5, but I still can't recommend it enough. If I had to define this one, it would be a supernatural romantic mystery, that is super high stakes towards the end, with a conclusion that will have you smiling from ear to ear ๐งก
