I picked this one up purely for the title. I mean, look.at.it! Gorgeous! And the two-in-one goodness of cats and dragons rolled into cat-dragons was every bit as cute as I hoped.
Cozy-ish books have been a bit hit-and-miss for me this year, and while I didn’t fully love this one, I definitely enjoyed parts of it. There are witches, talking pumpkins, a whole range of magical creatures, and an adventure. I especially liked the side characters and the road-trip feel of the story. The main characters had their moments too, but for me the book just dragged a little - it felt too long.
Still, it’s a lovely candidate for a cozy autumn read if you’re in the mood for higher-stakes, low-fantasy with a sprinkle of cat-dragon charm.
3.5/5 ⭐
