The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love by Oscar Hijuelos

2.0

Needed better editing. There were times were the book flowed really well and the descriptions/plot made me feel present and then there were times that the book was halting and it felt like a laundry list of descriptions. Probably the point as the book bounces around time periods, but it was very jarring and not conducive to a fun reading experience.

Cesar Castillo is sex-obsessed, complex and capricious, which makes for an infuriating/challenging center of the book.

I'm a little surprised I finished this book. I put it down a lot and even took a break to read another book. I think it became a mission for me to finish it.
