The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz

3.0

I was super excited when I heard there was going to be a sequel to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books. I went in with a bit of caution just because I knew that it was made from a manuscript of the original author and written by a new author... and that was at the back of my mind the whole time.

I don't know if it was just me but when reading it I definitely could tell that this was a different writer. The characters were reminiscent of their previous selves but somehow a bit forced and not quite there. I wanted more of Lisbeth, as I always do, and was a bit disappointed that she wasn't more present.

All and all I did enjoy reading the book. I was entertained and was content with the feeling of some of my favorite characters being back. If it weren't for the familiarity of the characters and my love of Lisbeth I don't know that I would have enjoyed it as much.

If you loved the other books definitely read it as a bit of nostalgia but don't expect to be blown away.
