My first read of the 2024 Hugo noms, and it's fine but certainly didn't blow my socks off. Historical fantasy isn't really my jam, so that's mostly the issue here. It was a well-written adventure tale, and the Muslim, Indian Ocean setting was engaging and so nice to see in the White-dominated genre.
