interesting concept but could have easily been condensed into 100 pages and had a bigger impact. instead orwell decided to bore readers with 200 pages of drivel before getting into anything interesting... also the blatant misogyny was extremely uncomfortable to read, i couldn't care less what purpose orwell thought it served. how many more times did i have to read about smith's watery bowels and julia being youthful?
