Vagabonds! by Eloghosa Osunde

“You are legitimate even when you’re the only one who knows how to translate yourself into your body. You are not invisible; you are real.”
This book was an absolute marvel. It paints a vivid portrait of Lagos filled with gods and spirits in a way that was sometimes weird as hell but in the best way possible. This book worked so well for me because above everything—above gods and demons and spirits and magic—this book is about love and resilience. Whether platonic, romantic, or familial, this book centers the love people have for each other and how it keeps them going in an environment that is unaccepting and often violent. This book made me feel seen in ways I haven’t really experienced in other books, and it did so in such a beautiful way.
(also the letters from Adura to Wura emotionally destroyed me oh my god)
