I wanted to read this book before diving into Mia and Kellen's story after Shayla was brought up in book 1. I didn't expect to like her, let alone love her and connect with her. Honestly, her story is so heartbreaking. I can't even begin to describe her life and the decisions she was forced to make. Jameson isn't exactly likeable, but he's so great for Shayla. Finally, they get together and work out. She had so many demons to fight, and thanks to Jameson, she wasn't alone fighting them. Now I understand why Shay abandoned Hallie. While it sucks, I have a feeling things will get worse with her before they get better. Mia and Kellens story is going to hurt everyone, but especially Shay and Hallie.
