It was quite entertaining for the most part. An excellent yarn. Towards the end it got kind of....conspiracy-y. Like, it's clear Crichton is against global warming blah blah. There was also a really lengthy part about how WWIII will be fought using computers faster than man can think and it was just a little tinfoil hat for me, mate.
As a linguist, I got a lot out of the ASL-gorilla subplot but only because that was my major at university and I'm a nerd. I filled in a lot of the gaps (linguistics has evolved a lot since 1980 lol) but I kind of had fun thinking about the actual science behind the stuff he made up. (I'm adding this because I haven't seen other linguists in the reviews :) )
