For as much as I loved the first book the second one didn’t quite meet my expectations. Mostly from pacing, this addition to the duology read much slower and became hard for me to focus on all the differing threads of plot.

When I was hooked in, I was HOOKED. The ending was also really well executed and the richness of the characters made me want novellas about all of them.

I wished for more Ma generally - she’s so great and so interesting.

Anyway, still love this series and glad I read this even if it wasn’t my favorite.
