The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

3.0

After reading Aristotle and Dante I thought I would give this a go, but unfortunately, this wasn't nearly as good.

Three cheers for awesome representation - this was the first time I've ever read a book with a Gay father.

I f**king love Sal's dad and their relationship are amazing - he is such a good dad and they have such a healthy relationship.

I wasn't a big fan of Sam, she was kind of rude (especially to Fito early on) - she wasn't unlikeable but I just didn't really click with her character.

It was so ironic to me that Sam's mother went off at her saying that she was going to end up a stripper and then proceeded to confiscate her college applications - because apparently taking away your kids chance at higher education is the best way to prevent her from ending up a stripper?

I also loved what a good guy Salv is, he never once gets jealous about sharing his father with Sam and Fito - who both desperately need a positive parental influence.

Not going to lie I was waiting for Salv to start dating Fito or Sam - And I think the lack of romance in Salvs life impacted how much I liked this book.

Overall, I did like this book but not nearly as much as A&D (however I did listen to that on audiobook so perhaps that changed the reading experience).
