Apple Crush by Lucy Knisley

Honestly, I enjoyed this book more than the first one! It was so fun and talked about great topics, that I think are important.

The most shocking was how the author talks about dating. I have never seen anything in kid's media of any kind that so accurately expresses what dating truly feels like. How it's weird, and sometimes uncomfortable, but you do it because you like the person. I loved the representation of that dating standard and trying to give examples of realistic dating. Greatly appreciated.

I also really liked how Jen just wasn't interested in dating! I am so glad that there's a representation of people to see that there are other things kids and teenagers can focus on besides dating, very refreshing. It helped me reevaluate how I react when I hear about dating potentials or the assumptions I make if two people are hanging out together. Do I immediately assume they're dating? Friends? Siblings? It was a very fun thought experiment and I am so thankful for this book for bringing my awareness to this unconscious bias to always assume romance in most situations.

Thanks again for the learning experience and a great & fun read! :)
