DID NOT FINISH: 27%

Rather underwhelming and flat poetry in my opinion. I don’t want to judge too harshly since I’m certain some people really connected with the book and I find the beauty of poetry is how subjective it is and how people find their own meaning in it…however this wasn’t it for me. Couldn’t bring myself to finish it, again I’m sure some people would connect with the way the books portrays healing but I couldn’t and wasn’t a fan of the approach taken here.

What made me set the book down was the poem titled “Your Golden Trophy” which was essentially about just “throwing away” bad memories and bad things that have been done and/or said to you, and to forgive. Maybe this approach works for some people but I really didn’t jive with it and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. There are multiple approaches to healing and the way it’s written here…I can’t fully articulate it but it just feels tone deaf.
