Junie B., First Grader: Toothless Wonder
by Barbara Park
Junie B. is the first kid in her class to lose a front tooth! But what if it looks weird? And what exactly is the deal with this tooth fairy lady, anyway?
The text lies somewhere between easy reader and chapter book. The chapters are short and there are pictures every few pages to break it up; it was great for readaloud but the large typeface would also make it easy to read on one's own. Most of the kids enjoyed the humor. The only caveat with this book is that it does deal with the tooth fairy, so you might get some awkward questions.
