WOW! I will be reading more of this author's work. She expertly portrays an alternate universe with many reversed gender roles, including a male masturbatory act, healthcare being based on female biology, and majority women politicians. Beautiful character work, with both main male characters featuring subtle generational trauma and falling into traditional roles even though they might not want to. Just outstanding. I would have enjoyed this as a novel-length story too.
