Very ambiguous in the first 100 pages or so (not really the fault of the author as there’s just no way to know for sure what happened in those early years). As the evidence got more concrete, the book got far more interesting. Kind of jumps all over the place at times. I really enjoyed learning how Rome went from a small village into one of history’s greatest empires. Overall, a very interesting read if you like this time period.
