Two Nights In August by Cecelia Conway

4.0

Two Nights in August is the fourth novel in the Door County Dreams series and can be read as a standalone. I did not read the books prior, and even though there were minimal mentions of the previous book's events, it did not take away from the primary focus of this story.

With that said, this is my first read from Cecelia Conway, and it was a pleasant surprise! The story unfolds between Sarah and Bret, two souls facing extreme difficulties and odds, finding their way to one another. Sarah faces defeat and poor life choices after her long-time boyfriend is discovered cheating on her. She turns to her best friend, Bret, who has been hiding his feelings from her throughout their friendship, and the two make a pact to begin fake dating. The two friends grow closer once Sarah moves in with Bret. As Sarah's walls start to break around Bret, a secret Bret keeps from her can cause their blooming romance and friendship to crumble forever.

This was a cute read, and I enjoyed Bret and Sarah's small-town vibe and budding romance. I am also going to read the first three books of the series. Highly recommend this one.
