Fairy Tale by Stephen King

4.0

This is my first Stephen King novel (I know, shameful!) and this novel was not what I was expecting. I always thought that King was a dark horror author but this book was the exact opposite. I really enjoyed the adventure and characters of this book at I was lost in the authors world the entire time I was reading.

We were introduced to the main character, Charlie Reade, who over hears a barking dog and decided to see what was going on. He came across Mr Bowditches, and older gentleman, lying outside his house after falling from a ladder and broken his leg. Thus, a dysfunctional friendship emerged and Charlie’s life would be a little more adventurous.

As a dog lover, there were certain parts of the book that had me an emotional wreck. The characters and plot had me on the edge of my seat and kept me questioning ‘what on earth is going on here?’

I have rated this 4/5. This is only because it was a bit lengthy setting the scene and there were some sections that didn’t add to the story but all in all, I really did enjoy it.
