Wow, Lauren Blakey’s newest hockey romance The Proposal Play is one of her best stories yet! I am in heaven with Asher Callahan and Maeve Hartley. These two have overcome a lot together thanks to their friendship that developed over the last decade. Both Maeve and Asher have experienced some pretty tough/sad situations that brought them to the same support group where they and Maeve’s brother became best friends. Yes, The Proposal Play is a rom-com but at the same time the reader will experience a lot of emotions because who wouldn’t after learning what all that Maeve, Beckett(Maeve’s brother), and Asher have all been through to get to the point of being best friends. The chemistry between Asher and Maeve is through the roof. Well, of course that chemistry is sky high, Maeve and Asher are best friends who are having a very hard time realizing and accepting the fact that they both are in love with their best friend. Asher, in all honesty does not take quite so long getting to that realization of being in love with Maeve as it takes for Maeve to accept that she is in love with Asher. The question is, “how long will it take for each one to openly admit to being in love with the other person?” BTW-did I mention they made a marriage pact two years earlier at Beckett’s wedding? Yeah, they did and so lots of shenanigans ensue once the pact is executed!! LOTS of shenanigans and many of them are of the steamy variety too!! Now, let’s talk about Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet bringing Maeve and Asher to life in your ears in duet narration!! Wow, these two do a fantastic job. Vanessa has such a smooth voice and a big variety of voices to bring the secondary characters to life with ease. Robert Hatchet, hmmm…what can I say that will do his voice justice? I absolutely love listening to him bring Asher to life. Asher is a character who has lots of vulnerability due to his past while at the same time is a dirty-talking alpha in the bedroom and Robert Hatchet does a fabulous job bringing all these facets of Asher Callahan to life. Such a yummy voice!! Love the story and the narrators! Highly recommend The Proposal Play by Lauren Blakely.
