Coming from the Lost Wolves series, My expectations for the first book were low. But the author is very good at writing characters who spiral around each other with a mix of mutual reservations and attraction.
The plot is basic but still decent enough to keep me hooked. The sex scenes were nice too, though maybe one too many.
There are some flaws that I’m going to chalk up to this being written in 2013, such as certain descriptions that wouldn’t fly these days. I will, however, complain to hell and back that the OPENING LINE depicts the sound of thunder arriving before the flash of lightning. That’s the opposite of how the physics works.
Anyway, the writing is enjoyable and the characters dynamics are engaging. I want to learn more about this world, and I look forward to steamrolling through the rest of the books in the series.
