This book was initially recommended to me as an "underrated winter themed horror" but it is absolutely a crime mystery thriller.
FMC really relies on Google translate for more than it is worth is probably one of my biggest complaints, considering she's surrounded by people who are native to those languages.
Some could say it was so she wouldn't give away her progress to the potential killer BUT she does that almost habitually the whole time. So in that regard it was a bit annoying and unprofessional from someone who was a detective previously.
Overall I did enjoy the concept of being trapped in a hotel that used to be a sanatorium and the mental journey of coping with panic attacks along with the fight/flight/freeze concepts and how women had been the main victims of this problem with people in power, regardless of gender, choosing to look the other way instead of getting involved to solve the problem.
Confrontation can be the biggest challenge to overcome.
