I will say upfront that I did not always connect with the writing style. At times I found it to be very typical of the YA genre, and I sometimes found it difficult to fully form a picture in my mind of what they were describing. Additionally, the use of translated cultural terms instead of having the Latinised words with, perhaps, a glossary at the back was one that I found a little jarring.
But how can I hold that against Iron Widow when I devoured it in only one week?
The plot is electric. The characters are believable, with fantastic development. The review quote that calls it a 'primal scream' summarised this book so succinctly that I can't even make an attempt to better it. This book was the fast-paced, adrenaline-soaked cure to the mild book hangover I had after 'War and Peace' -- and with the way that it ended still fresh in my mind, I can hardly wait for whenever the sequel comes out.
